
With over 40 years of
experience in real estate, Ben Reiling is a well-respected and established figure in the real estate community. As owner, Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of Zelman Development Co., Reiling is the visionary behind
current and former projects and is responsible for business
development.
After starting his real estate career
as a broker with R.A. Rowan Company in
Los Angeles
in 1965, Reiling joined Zelman
Development Co. in 1973 as a development partner. Over the years Reiling took an
increasingly active role in the management and direction of the company. In
1983, upon the retirement of the company’s founder, Reiling bought the company
and became its President.
As the owner of the company, he has
been responsible for increasing its scope to that of a company with a nationwide
perspective, as well as broadening its project portfolio. Under Reiling’s
leadership, Zelman Development Co. has expanded into the development of super
regional “power” shopping centers, and suburban office properties, in addition
to its original and continuing development of large distribution/warehouse
properties. Under Reiling’s leadership, Zelman Development Co. has
developed over 8,000,000 leasable square feet of retail, industrial and office
properties worth well over $1,000,000,000.
Reiling is licensed real estate
broker, an active member of the board of directors of the Society of Industrial
and Office Realtors (SIOR). He is also a member of the International
Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), as well as a licensed general
contractor. He is the only developer to receive the Roy C. Seeley Award
given annually by the Los Angeles/Orange County Chapter of SIOR for high
integrity and ethics in the real estate community. Reiling is a former chairmen
and currently active member of the board of directors of The
Hillsides Home for Children in
Pasadena
. Reiling holds a B.S. in Finance
from Cal State Los Angeles.

With extensive experience in real
estate finance, and project management, Paul Casey is Zelman Development Co. Co
- President.
Mr. Casey joined Zelman Development Co. in 1989. In 1993 Casey was made an
associate vice president with responsibility for all asset management of the
Zelman portfolio of properties including over 2,500,000 square feet office,
retail and industrial properties.
In 1995, Casey was made a vice
president and partner. At this time Casey’s responsibilities were expanded
to include, project financing and investor relations. Since 1995 Mr. Casey
has been responsible for structuring and overseeing the placement of over
$1,500,000,000 in construction financing, permanent debt, and joint venture
equity for Zelman projects. Mr. Casey is also responsible for property
dispositions as well as new investment acquisitions. Mr. Casey has also had
responsibility for project management, business development, and leasing of
several industrial properties in Zelman’s portfolio. Casey also oversees asset
management and accounting group at Zelman Development Co.
With a B.B.A. in Finance, Casey
graduated from the
University
of
Texas
at
Austin
in 1988.

A
real estate attorney specializing in shopping center development, Brett Foy
joined Zelman Development Co. in 1994 as vice president, general counsel and
partner.
Prior to joining The Zelman
Development Co., Foy served as Vice President and General Counsel to the premier
Las Vegas based shopping center developer, Laurich Properties, for four
years. From 1987 until 1990, Foy was an associate with the law firm of
Allen, Matkins, Leck, Gamble and Mallory a leading
Los Angeles
based real
estate law firm.
Mr. Foy has primarily responsible for
joint venture structuring, entitlements, and retail project management, and
Business Development. He is also responsible for leasing all Zelman retail
projects. Foy has played a major role in establishing Zelman as a leader
in shopping center development. Since his arrival at Zelman in 1994,
Zelman has dramatically expanded its shopping center portfolio, completing or
commencing the development of over 3,000,000 square feet of retail
projects.
Foy received a bachelors degrees in
Economics and Political Science from
Stanford
University
in 1984 and received his J.D.
from the UCLA School of Law in 1987. Foy is a member of the California Bar
Association, as well as a member of the International Council of Shopping
Centers, where he has served as a panelist on several occasions.

Mr.
Kopelow is a licensed Architect and General Contractor, and
has been associated with Zelman Development Co. for more than
25 years. He is a graduate of the University of California,
Berkeley, with a BS in Architecture and is a member of the
American Institute of Architects.
Mr. Kopelow has been responsible for the design, preparation
of construction documents, consultant and client coordination
and construction management of several million square feet
of industrial, office and retail buildings valued in excess
of $250,000,000. He currently hires and supervises the work
of outside Architects and Engineers to insure quality design
and cost efficiency, coordinates the various tenant shell
building and interior improvement requirements and reviews
all project plans and specifications.

Since joining Zelman Development Company in the year 2000,
Jerry has assumed the responsibilities of budgeting, scheduling,
bidding and construction management of all Zelman projects.
Jerry has a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering
Management from California State University, Long Beach. He
is a member of the Advisory and Development Council for the
Department of Engineering Technology at Long Beach, which
reviews and advises on the academic curriculum, and promotes
the department within the construction industry.
Jerry has a California general contractor’s license
(B 1) with added certification for asbestos removal and a
lifetime part time teaching credential to teach architecture
and related engineering classes at the college level.

Tracey Brownfield has over twenty years of experience in site acquisition, due diligence, entitlements and development; real estate finance; and corporate real estate.
Brownfield serves as the Northern California Development Partner for The Zelman Development Co. where she is responsible for sourcing new projects and then managing the entitlement and development processes. Prior to relocating to the West Coast and joining Zelman, she was a partner with Lee Sammis Associates in Virginia and worked for Copley Real Estate Advisors in Boston. Brownfield specializes in infill projects in the Bay Area and Central Valley with an emphasis on industrial and retail sites. At Zelman she has been involved in the entitlement and development of approximately 600,000 sq ft of industrial space and over 1,000,000 sq ft of retail space.
Brownfield graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia with a finance concentration and received her MBA from Harvard Business School. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the IOPC Blue Council. Brownfield is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. Brownfield also serves on the McIntire School Alumni Advisory Board.
